Coaching for Musicians & Educators
INDIVIDUALS, ORGANISATIONS & GROUPS
How I can help
You might be a musician or educator facing a range of challenges that coaching and / or training can help address. Some issues you might be encountering include:
-
Many musicians and educators experience feelings of inadequacy or fear of being ‘found out’ as unqualified, even when they have significant experience or talent. Coaching can help you build self-assurance and overcome these feelings of self-doubt.
-
Musicians often hit creative roadblocks or struggle with a lack of inspiration. Educators may also feel stagnant or uninspired in their teaching practices. Coaching can support you in finding new ways to reignite creativity and passion for your craft.
-
I can support you in building sustained motivation, enhancing resilience, and boosting self-confidence. Whether facing challenges in your career, personal life, or specific projects, I will work with you to develop a positive mindset, foster emotional resilience, and strengthen your belief in your abilities to reach your goals.
-
Both musicians and educators juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities, from practice and performances to lesson planning and marking. I can help you develop strategies to manage time more effectively, prioritise tasks, and reduce stress.
-
Whether it's feedback on a performance or classroom evaluations, criticism can be tough to handle. My coaching offers tools to help you build emotional resilience and learn how to receive feedback constructively without it affecting your confidence.
-
Musicians, especially those with demanding schedules, and educators dealing with heavy workloads are particularly vulnerable to burnout. My coaching can help you manage stress, recognise early signs of burnout, and implement coping strategies to maintain well-being.
-
Both musicians and educators can benefit from clarity on their long-term goals. I can guide you in setting realistic, achievable goals, whether it's advancing your career, starting a side business, or transitioning to a new role.
-
If you’re struggling to integrate your professional life with personal passions and relationships, coaching can help you find harmony. I’ll assist in setting healthy boundaries, prioritising self-care, and aligning your goals. Together, we’ll manage your time, reduce overwhelm, and achieve fulfillment in both your career and personal life.
-
Whether you are an educator in a leadership role or musician teaching others, you may need coaching to develop better mentoring, leadership, and communication skills to effectively guide your teams or students.
-
Musicians may face challenges in how to engage an audience, communicate effectively in interviews, or present themselves professionally. Coaching can help you provide guidance on building presence, networking, and personal branding.
-
Whether it's shifting from performing to teaching, moving into a different teaching role, or changing career paths entirely, coaching can support you in managing transitions and finding fulfillment in new directions.
-
For both teachers and musicians, maintaining well-being at work is essential for long-term success and personal fulfillment. Coaching can help you manage stress, build resilience, and find balance between your professional and personal lives. Whether an educator or musician, by setting healthy boundaries, prioritising self-care, and enhancing time management skills, you can reduce work pressures and increase your job satisfaction. Coaching also supports boosting confidence, improving communication, and fostering a positive work environment, ultimately empowering you to thrive in your roles while maintaining your mental and emotional health.
Coaching can be a powerful tool for addressing these challenges and helping you as a musician and/or educator thrive, both personally and professionally.

Speaking & presenting
I am a passionate advocate for music and its transformative impact, particularly in Early Years and Primary education.
With extensive experience in delivering talks and facilitating workshops, I focus on the importance of music inclusion in the curriculum. I have presented at various conferences and events, sharing evidence-based insights on how music supports cognitive, emotional, and social development. Through engaging presentations, I highlight the benefits of music for fostering creativity, improving literacy and numeracy skills, and promoting inclusion for all learners, regardless of background or ability. My workshops can help you and your team provide practical strategies for integrating music into educational settings, empowering you and other teachers to use music as a tool for engagement and learning.
In addition to my work in music education, I also offer life coaching skills training to teams of educators and /or musicians.
I provide practical tools and strategies to help you as an individual or team to build strength in areas of challenge that are common in the Music and Education sector including: resilience, improving communication, enhancing motivation, avoiding burnout, performance anxiety, time-management, reaching your full potential, managing stress, career development and transition.
My sessions are designed to empower teams to navigate challenges, achieve personal and professional goals, and foster a supportive, growth-oriented environment.
By integrating life coaching principles, I help you as educators and musicians develop a positive mindset, improve work-life balance, and strengthen collaboration within your teams. Bespoke training can be delivered upon request.

My music and education story
I started music lessons at a young age and progressed to achieve Grade 8 on the violin as well as learning the piano and singing almost everywhere!
My early career included 5 years in the charity sector working in national and international charities in Fundraising and Events Management.
In 2007, I earned my PGCE and began working as a Primary School teacher in Portsmouth.
I gained first-hand experience of the challenges of work-life balance and classroom dynamics. I particularly enjoyed my roles as Music Manager and Choir Director, where I could combine my passion for music with teaching.
In 2014, I transitioned from the classroom to self-employment as an Entrepreneur/Founder of Melody Tots and Melody Moments, using my passion for music and skills gained from teaching and events management.
My small businesses over the last 10 years has included making music and singing with 0-5s and their parents/carers, teaching violin, delivering music workshops in nurseries and schools, and performing in nursing homes, enriching the local community.
In 2020, I took on the exciting role of Senior Leader and Music Inclusion Manager at Portsmouth Music Hub, where I specialised in music education and inclusion.
I represented the Hub on National Music Inclusion Groups, led the development of a 5-year Inclusion Strategy, and delivered training and workshops. I also returned to classroom teaching Early Years /Key Stage 1, delivering whole-class music curriculum teaching and working as a peripatetic violin teacher.
After struggling with a chronic frozen shoulder, I took time to reflect and explore my Ikigai.
In 2024, I pursued an Accredited Life Coaching Diploma, achieving a Distinction, while continuing to run my small business, Melody Tots. In 2025 I launched Ruth Morgan Coaching to become a Personal Performance & Life Coach, Trainer and Speaker drawing on 25 years of experience in music, education, entrepreneurship, founding and running small businesses and the charity sector.
